THE ILLUSION OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

Girl Waving US Flag

 ABOUT

There are 24 hours in one day, 365 days a year and 8,760 hours in one year. The average full time worker roughly spends eight hours a day and 40 hours a week at work, which is around 2,080 hours a year, not including the work we sometimes bring home with us. Needless to say, we spend a lot of time at our jobs and live in a society that values careers, so much so that we are pressured and asked questions about what we want to do from youth, high school, and college. If we are devoting this much time and finding things that we are passionate about, we all should be able to experience an equal chance.

There are so many of us that grow up and loathe our jobs. It is not uncommon to hear many people say, "Ugh I don't want to go to work tomorrow". But what if we altered policies to change things that support everyone because of several social constraints that limit groups of people from achieving their career goals that lead to success and happiness?

The American Dream has changed from a time where most people could afford the same things and achieve the dream. But over time, social constraints have formed so deep that it is almost impossible for some to achieve.
